Tar washing fruit trees

Tar washing on fruit trees – its not the most organic pest control. However if applied correctly it can vastly reduce the need for insecticide treatments in the summer on your fruit trees and bushes. Plus it has the benefit of zero harm to bees because the tar washing operation is carried out in the winter. The basic idea is that the tar wash is sprayed onto the stem until it runs down the stems into all the cracks and holes killing all the over wintering pests and bacterial and fungal spores. The as the new growth and the spring buds start to emerge they start pest free.
