Over the last few days work has started a Weavers to create a wildlife garden and new vegetable growing area. The wildlife area is been created in a woodland area which has not been used for some years. The work includes clearing the wood, replanting and establishing a wildlife pond.
A newly formed vegetable garden has been started in a area of land formally unused which has been cleared of several years worth of weeds and brambles.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting the progress of both these areas. For further pictures visit Gallery

With the basic works including the fencing around the pond area and the electrics installed this week the next stage will be the planting in and around the woodland area with a number of plants such as hazel and holly which with start to attract more birds and general wildlife into the schools grounds. Together with the trees and shrubs being planted a number of wild flowers are being sown such as Devilsbit scabious and Oxeye daisies both ideal for birds and butterflies.
The students have now set up a program to monitor the progress of these plants and the wildlife they attract and the results will be published in late spring 2007
