The Care Of Clematis Montana.

June 28th, 2016 · No Comments

Known to be a vigorous climber and to get rather woody after a bit are some of the Clematis Montana’s main disadvantages as it can also look unslightly in the winter. So we at GardenAdvice recommend cutting them back hard every 4 years to allow them to regenerate themselves with new stems from dormant shoots at the base of the stems once they are pruned back this can be done in the winter or early spring before birds start to nest as they often nest in the woody mass of stems.New stems will grow quickly in spring as they have the full root system to support them.
